(CA & Buena Vista)

Happy birthday to meee oo la la. I know this this is so late but 25 was a big one – a quarter century is crazy. I think i blew out candles like 8 different times and celebrated for literally a week straight which feels very gemini. I felt SO SO loved (i was moved to tears and i am not a crier). I got to spend a week at home with my family and then did a cabin weekend in Buena Vista

The vibe:

Campfire, candles, and crabs

Doing:

This was such a special way to celebrate, a bunch of my friends from high school flew in and my sister and all my new friends from CO <3 The house was so cute and fit all 20 of us. There was a hot tub and fire pit (yess smores). Some people hiked, some people golfed, some people laid out and tanned while drinking mimosas (me). We played lots games and it was just such a fun and wholesome weekend with people i love so much plus Buena Vista is beautiful the drive up there alone made the whole weekend worth it for me.

Wearing:

One night I forced everyone to wear white. We fully looked like a cult at dinner but I love a theme and all of these pictures are so adorable.

Watching:

I know always say this but this is probably one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, I feel like I’ve watched so much good stuff recently. 1883 is the prequel to the prequel to Yellowstone. I never watched Yellowstone before because you had to buy it all on amazon haha but i started with the 1883 and LOVED IT. and then i watched 1923 and now i’m watching Yellowstone (it’s free on paramount or peacock). This whole series is so cowboy core i love it. The whole time i was watching 1883 i just wanted to be Elsa and cross the country in a wagon. SRSLY recommend

Eating:

UGH ate so good for my bday.

Flour + Water in SF is a pasta tasting menu which was an absolute delight. The highlight was 100% this black truffle sformato –i don’t even know how to explain what it was but it was unlike anything i’ve ever tasted before in my life and will definitely be in my top 10 bites of 2023. It was layers of truffle honey, crispy potatoes and parmesan foam cream.

Also went to Sushi Roku which had just opened in Stanford Mall. very similar menu to Nobu (miso eggplant, jalapeno yellowtail, delectable lava cake, etc)  and honestly in my opinion, better. The vibe inside is super cute and relaxing. Definitely new go to spot.

Had dinner at Ashkara for my birthday night in Denver – i would give this a solid 7.8/10. I think we were so hungry so everything tasted better but it was great for a big group with lots of share plates. They had a roasted pepper feta dip i love (htipiti).

Last food shoutout to my mom for getting me scones and clotted cream when I was home. I LOVE clotted cream and jam and I can not wait until my next real british tea.

Reading:

Finally finished My Brilliant Friend. I liked this book, it was really well written. Plane time is my best reading time and this took me multiple plane rides to finish. The whole time through I was waiting for the plot twist and I felt like the ending was a little unclimatic but i know it’s a series so maybe I need to read the next ones.

Listening:

I’ve definitely talked about this podcast before, Women who Travel by Conde Nast but i can’t recommend it enough. It’s been getting the move abroad bug back into my system. Just listened to an episode about solo travel (which is 100% on my list of goals for this year) and then one about moving to Paris to start a cooking school (which is probably another one of my lifelong goals).

Love you guys <3 July blog coming next week
